Day 5: Breathing for Recovery – This breathing exercise is designed to help you cool down and relax after hard training session. I’m sure just like many BJJ athletes you have found difficult to fall asleep after the late evening training session. This exercise focuses on slowing down your breathing which in order can slow dow your heart rate and stimulate parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to help you fall asleep easier and get the necessary recovery. Lifting your legs up against the wall relaxes your lower back and helps with lymph movement through the body which can speed up the process of elimination of metabolic waste products that your body has produced during the training session.
